Reliving old memories – Meditation

Clean out a corner of your heart and store some beautiful old memories
there. Treat it like you would a temple, which is a pious place in your
home. Start collecting all the happy and joyful moments of your life and
put them in that corner. And when you have some spare time, just close
your eyes and move into that corner, and start reliving those beautiful
memories.

It may be time spent with a beloved, moment of meditation, playing with your child, or your childhood memories. Reliving old memories “Living Again” doesn’t mean remembering those memories, it means re-living them. There is a difference in just recalling an old memory and reliving one. For example, when you go back to your childhood and you remember childhood was a joyful time. You may remember going to the garden. Perhaps there was a serene silence and sun rays passing through the trees. Then you saw a butterfly there and started running behind it. Relive the memory as you are there right now.

You can go through old memories in two ways. The first way to simply recall it in a way that you can explain what happened at that time to others. The second way is to close your eyes and become a child again; now you envisage that you are back in your garden again standing under those trees and the sun rays are touching you once again. Forget the time between that moment and now, and start reliving that memory as a child as though you are there right now running again behind that butterfly once again.

When you are back from reliving your memory, you will feel refreshed and vibrant. And through this process,

you can go back and live any memory again, anytime and come back with more energy, vitality, and awareness.
